A select group of members of the Junior Auxiliary of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, will soon travel to the 75th Annual Education Conference held April 29-30 at the Memphis Hilton in Memphis, TN. Over 600 ladies were in attendance at last year’s event.
The Junior Auxiliary of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, is a part of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries (NAJA), a non-profit organization founded in 1941 with Headquarters in Greenville, MS. NAJA has more than 15,600 active, associate, and life members in 97 chapters in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee. NAJA hosts an annual meeting in various cities across the southeast to offer training and assistance to the organization’s Chapters.
This year’s conference is sure to bring entertaining and engaging speakers to motivate and encourage attendees. Activist Malcom L. Astley, Ed.D, will kick off the event Saturday morning with a powerful presentation on dating violence entitled "Looking Under the Anger: Liberating Our Youth from Violence". Several other speakers are expected to attend as well.
Several training workshops will be offered for Chapter officers, there will also be also informative sessions on creating new and exciting projects to best serve our community’s children. One such resource is “Connect with Kids,” which is an online tool provided to each chapter by the NAJA Foundation.
Junior Auxiliary represents a serious endeavor on the part of women to be active and constructive community participants and to assume leadership roles in meeting community needs. The mission of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries is to provide support, resources, and educational, leadership, cultural, and healthcare training for NAJA members in order to optimize community service by NAJA Chapters. These educational meetings for members give them the resources to be better community volunteers.
