Congratulations to Lyndi Porter of Arkadelphia High School who was today awarded the Pat Pennington Junior Auxiliary Scholarship worth $600. The Junior Auxiliary of Arkadelphia annually awards two scholarships to seniors at Arkadelphia and Gurdon High Schools. The scholarship, named for charter member and founding President, Mrs. Pat Pennington, is awarded to students who plan to use their education to impact or enhance the lives of children. According to her application, Ms. Porter plans to attend the University of Central Arkansas and work toward an advanced degree in Occupational Therapy so that she will have the opportunity to help children “gain the confidence and reach the goals they have set via functional independence.” Ms. Porter will graduate this Saturday, May 19, with the AHS class of 2018 at the Duke Wells HPER Gymnasium on the campus of Henderson State University. Here, Ms. Porter is pictured with Junior Auxiliary Scholarship Chair, Mrs. Nicole Porchia. The Junior Auxiliary awarded the scholarship to Gurdon High School senior Ms. Rebekah Sims on May 8.
